“They’re your smallholder farmers … they’re your garbage collectors … they're your artisanal miners who feed the supply chain every single day – from the shirt you wear, to the phone you’re going to use, to the coffee you’ll drink. But they are completely invisible because they cannot prove their participation in that supply chain.”

Unveiling the problems that too often lie behind CSR buzzwords is Ashish Gadnis, the founder and CEO of BanQu. Ashish describes the systematic issues in traditional procurement processes that are a barrier to combatting poverty – and how BanQu is tackling them by increasing visibility in the supply chain.

Ashish also calls for businesses to adopt a fundamental change in mindset, and he offers advice on how to truly effect change and go beyond treating CSR as a box-ticking exercise.
