CSR at Efficio

Efficio’s work is to identify, deliver and sustain opportunities in procurement for our clients. We understand that our work in service of our clients will also have an impact on the wider world and we take that responsibility seriously. We approach this by ensuring that what we do is sustainable across our direct environmental impact, our communities, our clients and our people. As with any endeavour, we recognise that we are on a journey in this commitment, expanding our awareness and delivering improvements in an iterative way. Our commitment is to be a socially responsible company. We want to make a difference both for clients and our wider communities. Why? Because it reflects what we are passionate about and ultimately, our activities help to make Efficio somewhere where we are all proud to work.

Environment

Efficio understands that a principled and responsible approach to business is essential to the continued growth of the company. We are therefore taking practical action to mitigate our impact on the environment. One step is by engaging with the market to purchase carbon credits to offset our flight emissions. We are also continuing to raise awareness internally on the impact of our business by leveraging company-wide communications.

Our partnership with CO2balance

In 2018, we began partnering with CO2balance to offset our carbon footprint. As part of this initiative, we are investing in three projects: Kenya cookstoves, a Uganda borehole rehabilitation project, and a hygiene and sanitation project at Saaka Primary School in Uganda.

Community

Many members of our global community are committed to charitable activity and we encourage and support this expression of individual contribution to society. We also harness this spirit of humanitarianism by harnessing the skills and expertise of our consultants in collective endeavours, e.g. half marathons, cake sales, etc.

Corporate charity partnership

In 2018, we were pleased to announce our first corporate charity partnership with Plastic Oceans UK. Plastic Oceans is working to change the way we deal with plastic waste by challenging society’s perception that this indestructible substance can be treated as disposable. Efficio is supporting Plastic Oceans on a number of fronts, including fundraising and internal education around one-use plastic.

Diversity

Diversity is both a commercial and a social imperative for Efficio. It is important that our staff reflect our extremely diverse array of clients across the globe. We need to speak our clients’ business languages; and we understand that diverse groups will make better quality decisions and bring a refreshing approach to all our collaborations. As we grow internationally and continue to manage our diversity actively, we engage with our internal communities to ensure that they feel welcome and represented. We encourage people to create special interest groups and networks, both virtually and through a series of self-managed meetings and events. And, of course, we have an equal opportunities policy to expressly protect the interests of all of our people.

As a company, we are proud of the impact of our fact-based, professional approach to all that we do. We know that delivering long-term, sustainable results requires us to be insightful, fair and innovative in all our programmes. Time and time again we have demonstrated the value of a detailed, fact-based approach to suppliers – to reduce waste and costs, while rewarding innovation and identifying the best partners. We align with our clients' strategic objectives and, wherever possible, take the most economically advantageous approach, evaluating the total cost of products and services alongside the strategic alignment, capability, sustainability and feasibility of solutions. We ensure this approach is embedded in our work, culture, training and quality management – as well as targeted policies in key areas, such as bribery and whistleblowing.
