Edward Cox

Career background

Edward has over 15 years’ experience consulting on Procurement and Operations. Prior to joining Efficio in 2016, Edward worked at Newton Europe and before that at Proxima. He attended the University of Oxford where he studied Biological Sciences with a focus on animal science, evolution and anthropology.

Ed is a native English speaker and conversational in Japanese.

My role

Edward joined Efficio with a wealth of experience consulting with clients across a wide range of sectors and maturity levels. His current role is to lead large client engagements to drive high-quality, innovative outcomes that elevate procurement and its value to organisations.

Edward champions end to end value creation within Efficio drawing on his experiences of Operational Improvement programmes to consider the procurement interface with operations, supply chain and customer facing functions such as sales and marketing.

Experience and recent career highlights:

In-year Savings Delivery – FTSE Utilities: Led an assessment to identify annualised and in-year savings opportunities within a large, mature organisation across the UK and US. Identified £40m (£10m to be in-year) of opportunity that was then co-delivered with the client.

Pan-European Sourcing & Improvement Programme – International Food Wholesaler: Conducted a phased programme of works over 18 months, including delivering annualised savings of £8m, the re-sourcing of a complex 5-year contract valued at €100m, the design and build of a new procurement operating model to enhance the retail/merchandising performance, and operational efficiency work within the depot network.

Brexit Readiness Assessment – Central Government Department: Designed and led a supply chain risk assessment to support spend control and service effectiveness and continuity across c.£3B in spend, in light of significant supply chain threats.

‘Greenfield’ Function Development: Led the design and development of a ‘greenfield’ Group Indirect procurement function across 25 European countries. Established structures, measures and modes of collaboration to facilitate best-practice sharing and leveraging group-wide synergies.
