Annually, the month of June provides an important opportunity to reflect on the inclusivity of workplaces from an LGBTQI+ perspective.

Groups worldwide observe and support Pride Month in many ways – June is chosen in memory of the Stonewall Riots that took place in 1969. At Efficio, we are committed to embedding diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our business; it is the right thing to do, and we believe Efficio becomes a better place to work as we deliver on our commitments to diversity and inclusion.

Increasing diversity affords us a broader range of experience, expertise, and attitudes. The best employers understand why all their employees should feel welcome, respected, and represented at work; it drives better individual and organisational outcomes. At Efficio, we believe that staff must be able to bring their whole selves to work, because when LGBTQI+ employees feel free to be themselves, everybody benefits. It is everyone’s responsibility, and not theirs, to make sure they do.

This month is the ideal time to reflect on what we should do to make our workplace inclusive of the LGBTQI+ perspective. As such, we published communications to our staff to highlight Pride Month, its significance, and what we all can do to educate ourselves on this important topic.

We are also finalising the roll out of a more comprehensive diversity training programme: unconscious bias training has been in place at Efficio since 2018, but we have now developed complimentary inclusion training to provide further training for all staff, commencing later this year.

We are proud of the work we have done so far and are aware of the work that still needs to be done on the ground to harbour an inclusive working environment for every employee.
