Martin O'BrienManager

Martin joined Efficio in 2014. His recent work has involved transforming procurement for a major Private-Equity-owned Nordic cards and payments services provider, developing the future local content strategy and structure for a Middle Eastern government, and professionalising supplier relationships of a large European logistics company in Denmark.

Main areas of practice

Martin has extensive experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management and supply chain management through working on several projects across the Nordics, Central Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Career

Martin holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from DTU (Technical University of Denmark) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Martin is a Norwegian/Canadian national, and speaks Danish, English and French.

Significant experience

  • Procurement transformation – building and infrastructure company: Implemented an indirect spend turnaround and went to market for a new Source to Pay software to be implemented to all spend, i.e. Directs, Indirects and Projects across 30 countries. Delivering significant savings in spend and time.
  • Local Content development – Middle East government: Identified levers for influencing Local Content in the country with a focus on specific high priority sectors, to get more locals, women and newly-educated into the workforce, replacing expatriates. Presented to a range of Princes and Ministers to obtain buy-in to the programme and agree an implementation plan for the recommended activities through cross global benchmarking analysis of Local Content initiatives to recommend best practises, analysed the as-is procurement process and designed a to-be process 
  • Procurement transformation programme – payment services: Simplified and consolidated IT Consulting resources and Professional Services in a cards and payments services provider in the Nordics and Baltics region. Delivered significant savings form strategic sourcing and demand management as part of a Private Equity turn-around
  • Procurement transformation project – logistics and distribution: Trained various stakeholders in strategic sourcing along with running several categories. Significant savings through strategic sourcing and creation of category strategies and demand management
