Declan joined Efficio in 2012, after 13 years in private equity at Permira and Fondinvest. He manages the firm’s Private Equity sector, and is responsible for ensuring Efficio provides the right team and delivers the best results in direct and indirect spend, capital expenditure or working capital savings programmes.
Main areas of practice
Declan specialises in issues around Private Equity value creation programmes and post-merger integration, providing support to Private Equity group operating partners or deal teams during the opportunity assessment and implementation phases of Efficio’s projects.
He has worked primarily with companies in the industrial, business services, telecom and software sectors.
Career
Declan received a first class honours degree from UCG in 1991, an MBS (honours) from UCD in 1992 and an MBA from INSEAD with distinction in 2000.
Before joining Efficio in 2012, he spent 13 years working in the Private Equity industry at Permira and Fondinvest and three years in investment banking with Morgan Stanley in the UK and Hong Kong.
Declan is fluent in English, French and Irish, and has basic Spanish.

Declan primarily works with global, pan-European and local Private Equity groups.
Significant experience
Declan has supported more than 15 Private Equity clients through their successful relationships with Efficio. Prior to joining the firm, Declan was involved in a large number of Private Equity and public market transactions, most notably:
- Business services sector: Completed multiple projects for a business travel group including an IPO of the company, acquisition of a competitor, sale of a non-core outsourced services group
- Engineering and Technology/Software sectors: Conducted the successful sale process of several companies to trade buyers in the US and Europe
- Telecoms operator: Served as adviser to an Asian government on privatisation and flotation of the national carrier

In addition to his Private Equity experience, Declan has worked on a number of public and private company post-merger procurement synergy transactions.

Interests
Despite ageing limbs, Declan is still a keen competitive team player on a football field, golf course or, less frequently, on the rugby pitch.
He is a follower of global economics and enjoys working out how the unwinding of the current global debt bubble is going to play out for international business, consumers and governments.
